So I've been drawing people faces since I was 10. I'm pretty good at drawing an eye. But because I taught myself how to draw it's really difficult for me to draw the way I probably should draw. By outlining where all the feature go on the face and so forth.

I've actually tried to make myself draw the conventional way. I drew by outlining everything before going in for the details and my drawings weren't very good. I did this every night for about a week.

I said "screw it" the other night and started from the eyes and drew...rather well. So I'm wondering does everyone follow a certain outline for drawing the head or do you have your own way of doing it?

Ultimately I think if I had grown up drawing the other way (Andrew Loomis approach?) then I wouldn't have so much trouble with proportions.

I tried drawing a portrait again tonight doing it my way and while the eyes looked splendid the rest of it fell apart. There's got to be a good inbetween method for me!

I've never really been one to follow through with things. I usually go at something really hard and then laziness kicks in.

Surprisingly, I've been keeping with my one drawing a week goal. That goal has actually grown to about 2-4 drawings a week.

Thing is I need to set goals for my actual drawings and paintings. I'm working on a series of semi-abstract portraits on black paper. I almost have four done. I'm also working on a silhouette painting series. I almost have two done.

I need to set goals for these or they'll never get done.

I'm thinking I need about 10 portraits done by mid summer and 5 painting done. Optimistically I want them done by the end of May but I don't know if that'll happen since my work is at it's busiest at that time.

So by the end of this week. I need one portrait done and I need to make progress on my paintings. I'm still a little unsure of what I want to do with them. Maybe I should post them and ask for suggestions..? Maybe?

But what's a llama badge? I've gotten two in the past few weeks and that's awesome! But what are they exactly?
